About us

Dartford Youth Council (DYC) is a non-party-political body of young people elected from the schools and voluntary youth groups in the Borough of Dartford. They are supported by Dartford Borough Council and KCC Youth and Community Services.

The Dartford Youth Council aims to provide a means of two-way communication between Dartford Borough Council and the young people who live, work and go to school in the Dartford Borough (ages: 12-18 years). It provides a vehicle for effective communication and consultation with young people. Equally it encourages a spirit of citizenship and engagement with Webmail and Officers of the Council.

The Dartford Youth Council meets monthly in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre, Dartford. The agenda is made up of a variety of items for discussion by the Youth Council. These may include consultations from Dartford Borough Council Officers or from organizations across Kent who seek the opinions and ideas of DYC Webmail on a wide range of topics.

The DYC also orginises a variety of activities and events to promote the group and to aid projects for young people in Dartford. The Council also has individual "TAG" groups, initiated at the start of this year, each addressing different topics or issues which are important and related to young people from the schools/clubs that are represented. Each TAG group then shares information, ideas and future plans with the rest of the DYC for discussion.

DYC meetings are supported by DBC and KCC Officers and Councillors who can assist, where necessary, to turn ideas into actions!
